What We Handle

Replacing a heating system is the largest single repair most homeowners ever buy, and the thing that decides whether it was money well spent is not the brand on the front. It is whether the unit was sized to the house. An oversized boiler short-cycles, heats unevenly, and wears itself out years early while costing more to run than the right one would have.

A lot of what we replace was oversized on the day it went in. So we do not copy the number off the old label — we work from the house itself: square footage, insulation, windows, layout, and in a steam system the connected radiation. It takes longer at the quoting stage and it is the entire difference between a system you forget about and one you keep calling about.

The job is the whole job. We remove and haul away the old unit, check the venting and near-boiler piping rather than quietly reusing tired ones to shave the quote, test the system under real conditions, and pull the permit. Then we are still here for the annual service that decides how long it lasts.

  • Gas and oil boiler replacement, hot water and steam
  • Gas and oil furnace replacement and forced-air installation
  • Correct sizing from the house, not from the old unit's label
  • Near-boiler piping, venting, and chimney assessment as part of the quote
  • Zoning added during replacement, while the system is already open
  • Old unit removed and hauled away; permit pulled and inspection met

Common Questions

Heating Installation & Replacement FAQs

Repair or replace my boiler?
A rough guide we will apply honestly: if it is past fifteen years, the repair costs a real fraction of a new unit, and you are calling more than once a season, replacement is the better money. Under that, repair usually wins — and we will tell you so even though it is the smaller job for us.
How long does a replacement take?
Most straight replacements are a single day, planned so you are not without heat overnight. Fuel conversions or relocating the unit take longer because of venting, chimney, and gas line work. We give you the honest schedule up front, including any window you will be without heat.
Is it worth switching from oil to gas?
It depends entirely on whether gas is available at your address and what the conversion actually costs there — not on a general rule. Plenty of Worcester County has no gas on the street, which settles it immediately. Where there is a real choice we price both, including venting and line work, so you compare real numbers.
Will a new system lower my heating bill?
Usually, but by less than the brochure suggests if the house is leaky. A high-efficiency unit in a poorly insulated home still pays to heat the outdoors. We will give you a realistic expectation, and sometimes the honest advice is that insulation would return more than equipment.
Should I add zones while you are replacing the system?
If rooms run consistently hot or cold, yes. The system is already drained and open, so zoning costs a fraction of what it does as its own job later — and it fixes uneven heat, which replacing the boiler by itself will not. It is the upgrade customers most often tell us afterward they are glad they did.
